Stories from
the in-between.
I'm interested in the story underneath the story.
A ghost story can become a story about race.
A meal can become a story about identity.
A journey can reveal something we didn't know we were looking for.
I write nonfiction about the places, people, histories, cultures, and encounters that inform how we understand ourselves and our connection to the world.
Much of my work lives in the in-between: between cultures, identities, generations, places.
I don't always write to find the answer.
I’m more interested in the questions that emerge along the way. The ones that linger with readers.
Things worth noticing
Places. People. Books. Food. Objects. Conversations. Questions.
